The book myths and legends Review!

The book myths and legendsThe book myths and legends argentinas was presented to the secondary schools students as an invitation to the mythology argentina. Laura Argenti, the author, described it as a introduction and an approach that is always necessary to our roots. In the framework of the XXV Book Fair in Cordoba, Laura Argenti – educator and teaching at the secondary and tertiary levels- realized that it is still possible to involve the students in the knowledge and interest of its own history. The book presents a tour of the country, in time and space. A ‘walk’ that allows young people to be linked in another way with the mythology – “a dimension of the original story that surrounds us and, however, the boys seem to ignore,” said the author. The terror is also present. The stories selected and mythological characters carry a ‘plus’ that linked with gender. The pedagogical treatment of the book aims to be a way to facilitate the students all the cultural baggage that, from another perspective could be tedious. “Amorindo”, “Supai”, “THE Lobizón that he likes”, “La llorona”, “The woman dressed in white”, “The history of the dead woman”, among others, are some of the myths that roam our country -in the fields, on the plains, the mountains, next to the rivers – and echo in the different communities. The treatment that performs the author is not only in the insertion of the students in our culture in a way that will attract, as is the reading of terror. The book presents in addition, activities that allow the guys to complement these readings: give rise to the understanding, and encourage them to think and imagine. The experiences as a teacher of the author and her knowledge on the subject led to the writing of Myths and Legends Argentinas. The daily interaction of Laura Argenti with adolescents showed him that the boys prefer the narrations and attracts the terror. This, combined with stories of the national mythology, students were able to go, from another place, to our vast culture. A bet on the young people. A proposal that combines history, culture, geography, imagination and education. Idea that looking for a new approach to the youth of today.

Ted Brown opinion:

pes of finding living creatures. One of the aliens has the ability to touch an item, and then visually see the history of it.

This unique ability paves the way for a trip through history, starting all the way back to prehistoric man then progressing through such time lines as the medieval era, War World 1, all the way up to modern times with a little of everything else in-between. Reading a chronological retelling of familiar history with a zombie twist made for a never dull experience; Z-Time, has to be one of the most original and fun anthologies I have ever read.
The writing is very high quality, creating an experience that is comparable to viewing a B sci-fi or horror film at the local drive in theatre. Furthermore, when it comes to bridging multiply genres Z-Time truly shines, with so many sub-genres represented beyond the obvious sci-fi / horror hybrid effect created by including the aliens, it truly is mind blowing the talented of those who contributed. All of the included stories are equally enthralling and feature art styles that perfectly capture each of the time-periods, a detail that sold me early on, after I noticed the styles were shifting so fluidly with each era change. Between the tremendous writing and jaw dropping artwork, Z-Time, is necessary purchase.
I highly recommend this graphic novel to any fans of anthologies, horror, or the ever-growing zombie subculture. For those of you looking for some Halloween reading to get into the spirit, I assure you that after you turn the final page of Z-Time, you will be more than ready for a night of ghoulish celebrating.

DICK GIORDANO ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ & Baltimore Comicon

HERO INITIATIVE ADDS DICK GIORDANO AWARD TO HARVEYAWARDS CEREMONY

New Annual Award to Recognize ‘Humanitarian of the Year’

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 23, 2010) – The Hero Initiative, the charitable organization dedicated to helping veteran comic creators in medical or financial need, is honoring one of comics’ greatest gentlemen with a special award in his name.

The Dick Giordano Humanitarian of the Year Award will make its debut at the Harvey Awards Banquet at the Baltimore Comicon Aug. 28-29. Giordano, who passed away in early 2010, was part of Hero Initiative’s Board of Directors. He was also a legendary artist, a guiding force at Charlton Comics and DC Comics for many years, a mentor to his colleagues, and a friend to all who knew him. His legacy epitomizes the caring and commitment Hero Initiative strives to achieve. In honor of Dick, The Dick Giordano Humanitarian of the Year Award will recognize one person in comics each year who has demonstrated the generosity and integrity Dick brought to the charity and to the comic book community at large.

“So many people have referred to Dick as ‘The Great Gentleman of Comics’, and I’m sure he’d love to see his name and legacy carried on, especially in such a wonderful way that honors others who have shown kindness and generosity,” said Pat Bastienne, Giordano’s longtime friend and co-worker and now the executor of Giordano’s estate. “If Dick were here, he’d raise a Rob Roy and toast the idea.”

“As both a fan and a friend of Dick Giordano, I’m honored that this award bearing his name will be given out at the Baltimore convention” said Baltimore Comicon owner/operator Marc Nathan. “We’re pleased to be a part of keeping Dick’s everlasting
